What would make you switch from Google to another search engine?
Better search results?..or how about being paid for using a search engine?
The search engine SlashMySearch.com allows users to earn money for making SlashMySearch as their default search engine.
“Using our proprietary algorithms, we are able to “slash” through more of the junk and find you the most relevant results. We filter results from Yahoo, AltaVista, Excite, the Google search engine, our databases and several other sources. We also track what results are visited the most and refine our database with that information.
SlashMySearch also allows you to search eBay auctions, Amazon.com and has salary.com in the next release.
And how does the money part work?
SlashMySearch will share ad revenues with it’s registered users. You can also earn referral money.
Everything is so great. Am I in utopia?
Well, no. First of all, the program is open only for US citizens [wonder why they do so, when they can transfer thru’ paypal account].
And the registered users will receive 2 ads thru’ email every month! [spam?]
I tried few searches and overall, I am *just okay* with the results.
Will I switch?
Not too sure – these guys need to work on the overall site presentation and search indexing too.
